11/2/2022 0 Comments Slimraw dng log![]() ![]() I simply don't get what this camera is supposed to be exactly. This is why I'm specifically asking if there are issues with the Blackmagic RAW external recording in the Sigma fp.Īs an aside, I think the new fp L makes no sense to me. The main shortcoming that I'm trying to overcome is the unruly size of the CDNG files, which is why the Blackmagic Video Assist 4K makes a lot of sense (actually solves two major shortcomings of the Sigma, recording format and a proper video monitor screen). Not much grading needed either, basically using Resolve's new RCM the footage looks 90% of where it needs to be. It's got some shortcomings that make it less than ideal as a primary camera, but the footage that I shot as 12bit CDNG looks fantastic. I shot with the OG Sigma fp over a year ago. Not deal breakers but you need to know your way around the grading side to get the most from them. The OG Sigma is good but it seems they still can’t do some things like LUTs and encoded LOG files. There’s something not right with the way BRAW is working there that’s for sure. #Slimraw dng log plusIs that an issue on the older Sigma fp?Īnything else I should know before I plunk down $1700 for the camera plus another $1000 for the Video Assist 7" My main question is - what is the bottom line on recording Blackmagic RAW from the Sigma fp HDMI feed? Is it solid? Any issues I should be aware of before I commit to it? My understanding is that the Sigma fp L HDMI output results in soft and problematic external recording. My goal is to run it in conjunction with my Blackmagic Pocket 4K and I think the two would make for a pretty complementary ecosystem. So I think my next camera will be the Sigma fp (not the fp L.I honestly don't see the point). Kays Alatrakchi wrote:Sorry for the TL:DR post.(I did read a lot of this thread actually). ![]()
